Reflection on Gardom Lake Bible Camp CONNECT Camp for Youth – October 2014
As I entered into the parking lot of KGF on Friday, October 3rd, ready for a weekend of fun, I realized that this was my first ever camp retreat that I went with a youth group. The first time I would be able to CONNECT with my youth group in an event outside of Kelowna! I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it was going to be an adventure.
Sure, the bus ride there was peaceful and enjoyable, but once we arrived, everything just got better. We settled in without any problems and the kickoff was great, having the opportunity of meeting new people and seeing some familiar faces at Gardom Lake Bible Camp. During the weekend, the schedule was basically filled with sessions, games, activities, free time, and, of course, time to reflect and CONNECT with God himself.
Some of the many topics shared in the sessions were to “not worry about everything, but instead pray for everything”, “find time for God”, and finally, “connecting with God”. The camp director, Morgan Taylor, also discussed about the transfiguration of Jesus and how our desire is to stay on the mountain and build a tent, when really, we should be taking risks and seeking the One and Almighty.
