2010 Year In Review - 2011 Look Ahead
It was the first real snowfall, and it happened the Sunday I was away in Edmonton! On top of that, our snowplow guy wasn’t able to get to church until the service was about to start. What to do? Grab a shovel and go for it! Fire up the snowplow and make a way! That’s our church family. And I’m so proud of you. This seemingly small thing didn’t go unnoticed by our guest preacher Tim Schroeder who told me later what a great family we have at KGF, and how that was a beautiful picture of it. I couldn’t agree more!
There was a pile of rocks on stage, fashioned in the shape of an altar by my friend Gavin. I had never seen an altar in person before, but I felt it was an opportunity for us as individuals to respond to God’s call to lay down any idols we may be holding onto. I had no idea what would happen, and what did happen brought me to tears. Person after person, of all ages, walked to the front to lay down something symbolizing what had stood in the way of their journey with Jesus. And I felt something changed in the spiritual realm that day. As we prayed over those objects and words, we thanked God and asked Him to continue the work He has begun in us until it finds its completion when Jesus comes back! A morning I won’t forget.
These are just two of hundreds of stories that make up the year 2010 at Kelowna Gospel Fellowship. From baptisms and child dedications to extreme camp makeovers and shoeboxes, baby bottles and women’s Bible studies to the Deep Roots, New Shoots 50th celebration, it’s been an incredible year. I’m sure you have many of your own stories to share, and I encourage you to do that often with anyone who'll listen. God is doing a good work in our midst.
