50 Year Reflections - Serena

SerenaWe asked Serena Quiring to share her journey of 50 years at KGF, and she has chosen to do it in the form of a Thanksgiving Prayer (as we are celebrating our 50th Jubilee on Thanksgiving weekend!)

Dear God,

Please accept this note of thanks. I am truly grateful for the wonderful blessings of the past and the present - and the hopes I hold for the future.

You led us to Kelowna as newlyweds and we began a new life together in a new city, with a new place of residence, new employment for each of us and implanted a desire to search for a church. All this newness and uncertainty was soon eased when we quickly found a small nucleus of families who welcomed us with open arms as we began our walk with this group. They embraced us as part of their own families and we immediately felt at home and made them our Kelowna family.

Thank you for these families, their love for You and your word and their vision for the future!

Thank you for the struggles and uncertainties this church has faced and used as stepping stones to worthwhile goals.

Thank you for my husband Otto, who was such an integral part of the steering and shaping of the church. His untiring efforts and encouragement were a testament of his love for You and for your people.

Thank you for the blessing of our two wonderful children who were nurtured here, who accepted Christ and were baptized here.

Thank you for your boundless love which carries us through difficulties and tragedies in the life of the church and in our personal lives. Thank you that there are hidden blessings in these adversities.

Thank you for the freedom in this country which allows me to worship and fellowship unhindered with other believers, and to be able to celebrate that this Thanksgiving.

Thank you for the oasis of this church and its people. I am blessed!

Yours joyfully, Serena
