Abe_WiensWe invite the KGF church family and friends to join us Friday July 8th at 11am in the Sanctuary for the memorial service for Abe Wiens, who passed away July 2nd at the age of 91.  A light reception will follow afterwards in the gymnasium.

Abe was one of the founding members of KGF back in 1960.  His youthful exuberance and love for the Lord and people will be missed.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Lois Clark, Lynn (Bruce) Friesen, Karen Wiens, Sherrie (Peter) Bergen, David (Linda) Wiens, and Gordon Wiens; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two sisters Miriam (Shig) Tamaki, and Esther (Bill) Schlichting. My brother was married to Abe's daughter Lois and I work in the jewelery department of Walmart. When I started coming to the church I saw Abe and went up and said hi to him. He remembered me changing his watch battery - and I did that about 4 years before.
Then one Sunday morning he sat at our table in the gym and he said he remembered who I was and who my brother was. His alertness and memory was amazing to me.
I have fond memories of being in their home when I was younger - especially Christmas and watermelon and some German dough thing.
I am sorry I can't be at the funeral but send my prayers and thoughts to the family.

I always looked for Abe and he and I always had a laugh or two before Sunday service. I will miss him with his walking stick.

I was pleased to have Uncle Abe as my uncle. My mom was his sister ... I have many fond memories of Uncle Abe - he did a famous randition of "Levinsky at the Wedding" at my wedding and the weddings of my sisters (I believe). He had a great sense of humor and a warm caring heart. I am sorry that we were unable to attend his funeral. Love and prayers to his children ... Barb (and Richard).
