Leadership Team Update - New Board @ KGF
The new leadership board at KGF got together at Gardom Lake Bible Camp February 26-27 for a 24 hour retreat. The goal was relationship building, prayer and planning. The following is a report from Board Chair Garth Walker on the weekend experience.
Awesome! Imagine the opportunity of having 17 hours of uninterrupted conversation (well almost, we did get text messages updating the Canada/Slovakia hockey game on Friday night )
One of our focuses was on getting to know and appreciate one another: understanding a bit of our life stories, our gifts and abilities, our challenges, and what each member brings to the team. That was and will continue to be invaluable as we walk together.
We celebrated what God has been doing in KGF this past year and shared how excited we were to see His hand continue to guide us. We brainstormed on the various dreams/ideas we have for the different opportunities and needs in our congregation and community. As well, we are excited about the new format of the quarterly congregational meetings so that we have even more chances to communicate together with our congregation.
We laughed a lot. We prayed together. Some played together (Pastor Mike twisted the arm of a few to play the “Game of Life” with him)
The result is that KGF has very able and growing Board members who will be engaged in listening to God, each other and the congregation. We know that we don’t have many of the details worked out, and there is a lot of “good stuff” on our plate this year. However, we are very thankful for this place that God has us in right now and the unity that He is building on our board and in our KGF community.
“Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.” (Col. 3:14-15)
Thank you for the privilege of serving Him together,
Garth Walker
KGF Board Chairman
