Real Life Journal - Trust in the Lord
As promised, I wanted to share some of my own journaling, as together we walk through the Scriptures in 2011. We are inviting you to read two chapters a day, which will take you through the whole Bible in two years. It's a great exercise, and along with reading, we have encouraged all our people to journal, writing down what strikes them from the text, and how it might impact their life. This is called Real Life Journal, and you can pick one up from church for just $5 which explains everything. Find out more online here:
Journal Entry - January 18, 2011 Mike Penninga
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6. This is such a powerful verse. My walk with God is really one of trust. Trusting someone comes over time, as they prove trustworthy. That is God! He is worthy of my trust! He calls me to lean on Him, not my own ideas and understanding. That's what leads me astray, when I let my own thoughts guide me.There is an activeness to discovering His will. . . requires "seeking", a looking and searching for. But He wants to reveal His heart to me, and does open up the path I should walk on. Then the choice is whether I walk on it or not.
Lord, would I again today put my trust in you. Leaning on you, not me, and seeing your will and your path. Then give me the strength and courage to walk on it. For it is always the right way!
