RUSH Lives Up To Its Name!

RUSH 20111400 High School students descended on KSS February 18-20, but not for school.  They were gathering to take part in the 8th annual RUSH Youth Conference, put on by Willow Park Church.  Students from all over the province enjoyed an incredible weekend of worship, speaking, and activities.  Several of our own took in the festivities (while two other out of town youth groups crashed at KGF for the weekend so their students could attend as well).  Here's a report from Josh Landie on what he experienced at RUSH 2011

What can I say about the experience of going to Rush? Well, I listened to loud music, ate junk food, and made a taco salad in a bag of Doritos. How’s that for starters? But despite the fact that it was probably unhealthy to listen to blaringly loud music, and eat as much junk food as I did, I had a lot of fun. Fun however, was not the only reason we went to Rush. We sang worship songs, listened to and learned from the speaker’s messages, and ultimately drew closer to God. And I sincerely felt that those who wanted to draw closer to Him did. Proof of this was when the speaker, Jeremy Kinniburgh, asked for those who wanted to meet Jesus for the first time to stand up. And when he did, a good friend of mine who was sitting beside me stood up. And he wasn’t the only one who did either. A good number of kids joined him. Already being emotional from the message preceding this, I just thanked God for letting me see this and really for everything he had done.

This being my first time going to Rush, I didn’t know what to expect. But now that I’ve experienced it, I definitely want to go next year. There is just one thing I need to remember for next year though: bring earplugs. Those concerts are really, really loud.

I would also just like to thank our youth leaders Jessica, Scott, Mike, Crystal, and Louise for all the hard work that they do for all of the youth. They volunteer to do a lot of work that a youth pastor gets paid for, and the youth ministry would not be nearly as good as it is without them. Again thanks to all of them, and keep up the good work!
