Week Of Prayer – Monday Night @ KGF Review
Prayer! How awesome is it when we as God's people do what He designed us to do; “call upon the name of the Lord” together.
This year I am even more excited about gathering together in prayer, united as a city. For me, this comes after spending some significant time in prayer this pas year for unity in the church – a topic that I believe God is burdening the hearts of His people with heavily world-wide.
And to see such growth in both the size and the fervency over just last year! What an encouraging time for us.
Here are some take-away thoughts from Monday night's gathering, which focused on marriage and family.
It Was “Its Own Thing”
First off, it was clear that Monday night had such a different feel compared to Sunday night. It was tender, soft, touching. Perhaps the “close to home” nature of the topic had something to do with it; but I could feel that the air was loaded with reverence and sincerity. After all who isn't affected personally by this part of life? Thanks to the worship team for setting the tone and also playing some unfamiliar tunes. I was a bit perplexed by this at first, but then I thought that it really did a great job of “disarming” us all and allowing for some genuine expression.
It Was Candid
It was a time for sharing. Within earshot I could hear total strangers opening up about intimate details of their lives! I really think we broke through the surface relationally – to God's good pleasure.
What Did It Lack?
If anything, I found myself yearning for some time spent together focusing on those unique family members and family dynamics. Those special people and situations whom we each pray for so often (perhaps daily) alone, or with our spouses.
With such a strong focus on the sanctity of marriage itself, there wasn't much time to acknowledge the many other challenges that may come with being followers of Jesus amidst an earthly family who may or may not know our Lord and God.
Overall it was a great victory for the church in this city, and I so look forward to witnessing the fruit of this week's earnest prayer, and the sincere, unified heart of the church in Kelowna, which is so obviously growing in love.

From your lips to my heart!
Being "single" (spiritually) in a marriage...your words on Monday night as well as in this article are balm to a weary (at times......espe cially "somehow" every time I want to go to a prayer meeting????) heart.
3 ladies in my prayer circle were praying for beloved children not walking with the Lord! So much need for so many lost (for now :)) loved ones.
Thank you Drew, your message on monday night went straight to my heart and was an answer to prayer - literally..as I was asking God en route their for HOPE
It is such a burden God has placed on my heart to meet with others purely to pray for our "lost" loved ones....waiting on the Lord to see how this pans out :)
With renewed strength....whi ch comes from waiting on the Lord
