Welcome to KGF - Sunday August 23, 2009

Welcome to KGF! It’s great to be back with you after a wonderful holiday with my family. We had a great time ATV’ing, seadooing, golfing, watersliding, and just laughing together. And Michelle and I celebrated our 7th anniversary, her birthday and my birthday to boot!

Thank you for the confidence you showed in us by your vote of support last Sunday. It is humbling and encouraging, and we see God’s hand orchestrating our lives in such amazing ways. I can’t tell you how excited I am for what He has in store.

What a blessing it is to have five families dedicating six kids this weekend. We encourage you to give the families a hug and a word of congratulations.

Part of our responsibility as a church family is to train these kids up in the way they should go, and that’s where you come in. We are re-tooling our Sunday School ministry, and are hosting a vision casting night this Tuesday August 25th, 7:30 – 9:00pm in the Fireside Room. If you have a heart for kids and want to serve in this area, join us then.

This weekend we begin a short, two-part series entitled “Made to Be”. We are talking about how you and I were “Made to Belong”. We all want to belong, to fit in, to be accepted. How does that happen in this place?

One of the steps to belonging in God’s family is baptism, and we have a class coming up next Sunday, August 30th, 7 – 9pm. The baptism will take place Sunday September 20th during our church picnic at Kinsmen Park. I also strongly encourage those of you who are committed to KGF to show your support by joining this church family in membership. You’ll hear more this morning.

Don’t forget this is the final Sunday for our Back to School Bash event. Grab your backpack, fill it, and bring it back to the church by Tuesday. And sign up to volunteer at the event itself, Saturday August 29th, 5:30 – 8:00pm at Parkinson Rec Center.

Let’s worship the Lord together!
You are loved
