Christmas in July - Food Bank Campaign

Christmas_in_July_logoChristmas in July - Kelowna Food Bank Fundraiser

Here at KGF our mission statement is, “Knowing Jesus & Making Him Known”.  This month we have chosen to follow our mission statement by partnering with the Kelowna Food Bank.

Christmas may not be coming soon, but “Christmas in July” has just begun.  The Kelowna Community Food Bank’s 19th Annual Christmas in July campaign serves to remind our community that the spirit of giving is needed all year around to help our less fortunate friends and neighbors.

As a church our goal is to raise 2,000 pounds of much needed product and food for the Kelowna Food Bank. To achieve this goal we are asking each family in our church to donate a 10 pound bag of food.  2,000 pounds of food will feed 100 families in our community for a week.

Last year our goal was 1,000 pounds and we raised over 1,500 pounds.  As our church has grown, we also believe our ability to bless the Food Bank has grown. . . are you in?!

Here’s the time-line:

July 4th – Vision Casting Day

July 11th – Bag & Shopping Wish List Distribution

July 18th – Presentation by the Food Bank’s Lenetta Thordarson

July 25th – All Food Returned to KGF Foyer.

You can download the shopping list here and bring your bags back to KGF by July 25th.

A big thank you to Steve & Danielle Klassen who are spearheading this campaign on behalf of our church family.  You can find out more about the ministry of the Food Bank on their website at www.kelownafoodbank.com or by dropping by their headquarters at 1265 Ellis Street downtown.

Let’s do this together!
