RUSH 2010 Youth Conference - Message Videos Now Online

RUSH_2010_MikeHello friends! Well here it is the end of summer, and we're half-way between RUSH 2010 and RUSH 2011!  RUSH is a province wide youth conference that draws 1500 high school students to Kelowna to encounter Jesus in a fresh way.  It was an incredible joy and privilige for me to be able to share my journey with the Jesus I thought I knew, and I look back at that weekend as an incredible God time.  We've posted the messages from this year's RUSH in video format, and you can find them online here:

Friday PM Part 1 - Who Is Jesus

Saturday AM Part 2 - The Way The Truth The Life

Saturday PM Part 3 - The Resurrection & the Life

Our RUSH Posse Facebook site is still active, with lots of great online material here:

You can find out all the details of RUSH 2011 and the ministry online here:  http://kahoots.ca/rush

May God continue to be near each of you. Know that you are more loved than you can imagine!

Blessings

14 Day Journey into Prayer

PrayerJames 5:16 (NLT) “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.”  Do you believe that to be true?  I do.  I have discovered that the more you pray, the more you realize that prayer makes a difference.  I love it when people say “I was praying for you at such and such a time”, and I think back and remember, “Yah, I needed those prayers, I felt those prayers!”

Pastor Samuel Chadwick reminded us of the power of prayer in the spiritual realm.  “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying, The devil fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. The devil laughs at our toil, mocks our wisdom, but Satan trembles when we pray.

We have three core values at KGF.

Grounded in the Bible

Guided by the Spirit

Growing in Prayer

It’s not enough to take notes on a message about prayer.  If we never take the steps to pray, we’re missing out.

That’s why I want to invite you to join me and the leaders of KGF on a 14 day journey into prayer. We do not learn to pray by listening to messages on prayer, reading about it, talking about it.  We learn to pray, we become people of prayer, by praying!

Discoveries from Leadership Summit

Leadership_Summit_2010_-_KGFThose of us who attended Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit this past week, came away with a strong sense of affirmation that KGF is on the right track.

Our church has come through a very difficult period, but has refused to give up, convinced it had a reason to endure, that God still had a mission for it.

Having said that, we were also made aware that it doesn’t take much to lose sight of God’s intent for one’s church, and that even the smallest amount of arrogance will sink it.  We learned that a healthy church will always in humility acknowledge that it has received blessings way beyond its doing.

As our church continues to grow, we learned, we must at all cost preserve our core values, the mission and vision God has given us.  Our “practices” should and will go through growth and change, but our “foundation” cannot.

Worship - Following the Spirit

n508919937_886753_1312Leading music on a Sunday can be tough sometimes, but it is a lot easier when a leader’s heart is in it spiritually. This takes the pressure off of us and frees us up to look to the Spirit to lead.

A friend of mine once told me that when he is leading worship, he has 3 eyes. One eye on God, one eye on the congregation, and one eye on the band. This means if 2 out of the 3 are going in a similar direction during worship, we are going that way.  It's all about being sensitive to God‟s leading.

It is too easy to get caught in the mold of how Sunday should look and do the same things every week.  Sometimes the Spirit has other plans.

Walk a Block for Jesus!

ParkingI wanted to take this opportunity to talk with our church family about the great wave of blessing God is sending our way, and how we can prepare for it.

As you may have noticed, our parking lot is full every Sunday.  This is great!  It means God is doing something in our midst that people are excited about, and want to be in on

And this has only been summer time, when many of our own people are away on holidays.  We will really notice a parking lot crunch come Kickoff Sunday September 12th, and into the Fall ministry season.

The challenge is if there are no parking spots, KGF does not become a very welcoming place for people who are new.  They will drive onto the lot, find it full, and not know where to go or what to do.   We don’t want to make it difficult for new people to come to KGF.

New Family Pictoral Directory

Basil CooperWe are putting together a new photo directory that will be available for free on our 50th Jubilee Weekend, October 10, 2010

Basil Cooper Photography Inc. will be bringing their studio to our church there will be two different options for photos. We would like to have a photograph of all of the church attendees. If you would like a photo done simply for the church directory (two simple photographs; one full length, one 3/4 length) done you can have your photo taken on one of the following times (without appointment);

August 22, 29th, September 5th and 12th - 9:30-10:00 11:30-1:30

Alternatively each family will have the opportunity to have several different photographs taken in a photo session.  Basil Cooper Photography Inc. will then print proofs from all the poses taken and, for added convenience, they will deliver the proofs directly back to the church. Also the proofs will be able to be viewed and ordered online. The purchase of photos is optional and a photo will also be provided for the church photo directory.
