Brenda Brenda KGF

After my mother became a Christian (in her mid 30’s) me and my brothers were taken to Sunday school. I don’t remember much from the church services, I think I doodled on paper through them, but I did learn Bible stories and John 3:16 in Sunday school. In my mid teens I stopped attending because the church split and a friend left.

Fast forward 20 years later; I’m married with 2 sons and living in Kelowna. I noticed there were lots of churches here and I thought maybe of going to a service but didn’t want to “dress up” to attend.

While walking in the morning one Sunday, I noticed another church had opened up in my then north Glenmore neighborhood. Several people walking into it were wearing jeans, so I decided to try this church out. The service was lively and not boring, and I noticed there was “something” there that I was missing in my life. I kept going for almost a year till one Sunday I accepted Jesus as my Savior, he was my missing “something”.

Right after that I had an inner peace, no fear of death, the songs in the church made more sense, even a coworker I disliked I saw through new eyes and had compassion for her.

I love how God puts you in the right places; meets where you’re at and draws you to him with his love.

A verse I like: Isaiah 54:10

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

I like that church is a place where we can wear jeans too. There is a song I have sang that has the words... "come, come as you are to worship" ... "come, come as you are before your God"...and that is what matters :-) come, come :-):-) Appreciate you sharing your story Brenda!! :-)
