Cheryl Cheryl KGF

I grew up in Prince Rupert and my family and I attended a Baptist church.  I grew up going to Sunday school, weekly kid’s groups, and Bible camps and youth groups.

I accepted Christ when I was young, saying the prayer of salvation with my Dad.  At 11, I took a believer’s baptism course and was baptized at the church on Good Friday.

Throughout my youth years, I was very active with my youth groups and it’s ministries team. My pastor challenged me to read the Word, showing me that I know very little of what the Scriptures said. I enjoyed counseling at my church’s camps and leading kids toward Christ. In Grade 12, I helped start a Christian club at my high school, featuring Veggie Tales as the opening video.

I moved to Kelowna in 2006 to go to film school. There, my final project was a documentary on questions non-Christians had about God and struggles facing the world. I went to different pastors from Trinity and Willow Park, and interviewed them. I showed that documentary to a room of people and got a few different kinds of responses.

In 2009 I went to Kenya for missions for 5 weeks. The experience helped me see the things that were really important in my life; God, relationships, helping others and bringing others to Christ. It also gave me a huge heart for Africa and the hospitality of people who have so little, relying on God every day to provide.

This year, 2010, my boyfriend of two years, Eric, and I were married July 17. We are listening to what God has for us next, and are hoping to go overseas for mission work and helping the developing world with their drinking water and conservation efforts, as well as leading people to Christ through the Bible. We plan to stay in Kelowna until August 2011 and then move away for school.

“I want to take your Word and shine it all around,

Help me to just live it, Lord.

And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown,

For my reward is giving glory to you.

(O, Lord, You’re Beautiful, Keith Green)
