Curtis Allen Curtis Allen KGF Church

I have been blessed to have grown up in a Christian home with loving parents and I became a Christian quite young.

My faith really became just that - my faith and not just a branch of my parent's when I attended a summer camp when the year before I started high school. I re-dedicated my life one night at the camp, and the journey began.

I did a lot of growing while working as a camp councillor at a Bible Camp in Peachland over the summers of 2005 - 2007. It was an awesome time for me as I got to lead a handful of children to the Lord, be an example to countless others, and I learn a lot about myself and my walk with God.

God has really blessed me in the last few years, He has opened doors beyond my wildest dreams, and given me opportunities I never thought I would have.

But it hasn't all been easy, my job in TV news has let me see some of the darker sides of life. I've reported on murders, rape, greed, death, horrifying accidents and the list goes on. I've seen people die, and met people with diseases and handicaps that are heartbreaking. The pain I see every day in the world makes it all too easy to drive home at the end of the day convinced there is no such thing as a loving God. At a point I found myself debating that issue, but the more I dug and investigated through reading my Bible and prayer the more I came to know the realness of my faith. I came through stronger than ever before. Sometimes it takes trials and questioning to realize why you believe what you do.

In August of 2010 I was baptized at my church in Kamloops. It was great to publicly declare my faith and it changed my way of living. I believe I need to "wear the dust of my Rabbi" and honour my creator at all times.

I moved to Kelowna from Kamloops in March and started looking for a church. I prayed God would lead me to the right one for me as I began to visit churches in the city. It only took one service at KGF for me to realize this was home. I'm excited to continue my journey with this great church family backing me.
