Dave Dave

I grew up in a Christian family. I first remember accepting God out at Manitoba Pioneer Camp around age 7 or 8. I would say I grew up mostly piggybacking of my parent’s faith. In summers I would go to camp and in high school started going to sailing camp. It was there on the water that I really experienced God. I made the decision to get baptized when I was 15 years old and soon after that, we moved to Germany for 3 months. While I love Europe, it was sad to see these beautiful churches that were more tourist attractions than places of encountering Jesus.

After graduation I attended TWU and after 2 weeks I knew this is where I was supposed to be. University was some of the best years of my life. Being in an environment that challenged me spiritually and intellectually, was amazing. After university I ended up getting a job testing video games. After rising in the ranks quite quickly, I found myself working long hours and not having much of a life beyond work. It wasn’t until I went for a weekend out to Victoria to see my parents that they introduced me to the counsellor they had been talking to. It was there that I discovered just how concerned and how much my parents loved me. More than that, I realized how much God loved me, wants the best for me and could help me conquer anything.

In 2005, I was accepted in to a MBA program and after prayerful consideration decided to take the opportunity and moved to Winnipeg to study. After graduating, I moved back to BC and started looking for work. This was a big test of faith and trusting and it took close to 5 months before I found work. That summer, Christina and I re-connected at a mutual friend’s wedding. Our relationship blossomed and at the same time, God showed me that I needed to let go of some resentment from a previous relationship. In Feb. 2009, I was laid off due to the economic downturn. In May I received a job offer with Club Penguin to bring me to Kelowna. Christina and I were married shortly thereafter in June and starting regularly attending KGF in October.
