When I was 14 years old I was in an accident. The front tire of my bike came off when I went over a speed bump. I knocked out 5 teeth and was in the hospital for over a week. After that I went through 3 plastic surgeries to try and repair what was left of my upper lip. I was left wondering why God would let this happen to me. I remember someone showed me the poem Footprints in the Sand, which talks about how in hard times God does not leave us, but instead He carries us. Through that experience I learned that even in my hardest times, God steps up and carries me.
When I was finished high school I went to Rocky Mountain Bible College in Calgary for one year and then returned to Kelowna at which time I started attending at Trinity Baptist Church. Shortly after I went on a missions trip to Mexico, which is an experience that I will always cherish. To see other believers around the world who were so happy with so little really opened up my eyes. All we did was show the Jesus film in an alley and people would come forward to accept a personal relationship with Jesus. The things I was most worried about on the missions trip ended up being the best experiences, even though they were out of my comfort zone. I learned to just trust in God and He would take care of me. The summer after I returned from that missions trip I wanted to make a public declaration of my faith in God and I was baptized at Green Bay Bible Camp.
Along my walk as a Christian I have rededicated my life to God on several occasions, and I will continue to choose Him every day.
