Life is a wonderment, with it’s vast beauty of mountains, oceans, stars and the many different cultures throughout this world.

At an early age, as part of an air force family, we travelled and experienced all of the marvels, which had it’s moments, but left me lost and usure in life about how people and relationships can be altered or destroyed.  I experienced far too many difficulties within family and cultures.  Moving often, I was left with a feeling of a lack of commitment to friendship or of belonging to a community as I was unsure of what was normal, what wasn’t.

My family consisted of Dad & Mom, one brother, two sisters and we were sent to church every Sunday until the age of thirteen, at which time we were given the choice to continue or not.  I didn’t return except for weddings or funerals, until 1989.  I was married in 1978 to Kathy and we moved to Kelowna in 1980.  We were blessed with three daughters who all still live in Kelowna.  I first returned to church only wanting to be part of my daughters’ lives as they were involved in youth and drama at Willow Park Church, but soon found myself wanting to have more understanding of who Jesus was and what his story spoke of.

At Willow Park Church in Oct. 1993, during a call by Pastor Ed Boschman, I raised my hand to God’s touching and accepted Him into my heart.  My life changed dramatically as God gave me purpose, understanding and commitment to a greater calling.

I grew in His word and continue to be amazed as He opens my eyes and mind a little at a time.  I was involved in many ministries over the years and continue to search God’s guidance in where I can be of service at KGF.

In Oct. 2002, I was struck with a darkness, as I lost seven family members in a two year period. My wife (Kathy) to cancer, my mom (Pearl) my brother (Del) mother in law (Carol) an aunt, uncle and our family dog. There isn’t enough space to explain God’s workings as he walked beside me, held me up, gave me strength and didn’t allow me to fall into a very dark hole during this period of my life. I give praise to him daily for this.

God has given me many blessings in my life (some just took me time to realize) but none more than bringing Elaine into my life. We met and leaned on each other as Elaine also lost her husband (Frank) to cancer. Our time together grew to be more than just friendship and we married in May 2005. We became grandparents to Isabeela in 2009, praise God.

My life has had so many changes, curves & experiences thrown my way but God has given me sound guidance to help make sense of my journey and how I can best use it to better his kingdom. God’s word and friendship is my constant and I continue to be blessed with a friend who is as Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
