Understanding what life would look like without Christ was always a hard concept. All my life I have had the privilege of growing up among strong Christ followers, being lead and directed in the shadow of our Creator. This constant immersion into the Christian lifestyle gave a great foundation to what would become a lifelong journey.

My first outward confession of faith was at the age of five at an Awana program. This early decision I often overlook and question, but from hindsight I realize just how much of an influence this pronouncement had. For many years I walked boldly and fearlessly alongside my Father, portraying what we would call “child-like faith.” I do not believe I would have been able to fully grasp this type of faith if I had not made an early profession as a child.

But I don’t believe that I have only professed faith at one point in my life. I believe it is a constant renewal, rebuilding the broken bridges. We are obviously not beings of perfection, so struggles and trials have become an ultimate reality. Evidently these trials and struggles have gotten the best of me, but amazingly enough, perfection has pursued me in my perfectly imperfect state. I have experience the true message of the Gospel.

I have understood it is not about us, but God. It is OUR sins which can only be paid for with perfection, through God. And that we can only find life through Christ and Christ alone. It is a clear message of self-denial and hope.
