Jonathan Lowe Jonathan Lowe KGF Church

I was born the oldest of four boys in the metropolis city of Durban, South Africa. I was brought up in what you might say was a Christian home. My dad?s side of the family was heavily involved in the Church while my mom?s weren?t but would openly confess that they believed in God and Jesus? work on the cross. As a family we really only went to church on Christmas Day, as the church gatherings were pretty boring (for both my parents and us kids). My introduction to Jesus came through my dad?s mom at a very young age. I remember her praying with me before bed when I stayed the night at „granny?s? house. I didn?t question God?s existence, just believed what I was told - it just made sense to me.

At around age 5 or 6, I went to an outreach event, and at the end they had a prayer and I remember my gran encouraging me to go up to the front. Looking back, I realize that this was my first response to the gospel but it was at age 13 that I actively and consciously decided at a youth event to make the decision to follow Christ and accept Him as my Lord and Saviour. I got connected with a local church at my high school, (which was a little more lively than my gran?s church) and began learning about the Bible.

At fourteen our family immigrated to Auckland, New Zealand due to the challenges with education and crime happening in South Africa. We were picked up from the airport by a pastor of a local church who knew my uncle and that was how I got connected with the church I would eventually attend for the next 9 years. I later met a beautiful girl from Kelowna, B.C. in Auckland who would eventually capture my heart and bring me half way around the world (again) to Canada. Now we have been married for almost 4 years and have an amazing 5 month old daughter whom we named Anaya, which means „God answered? in Hebrew.

I don?t confess to have ever heard the audible voice of God or experienced some revolutionary experience. All I know is that through all the life adventures I have been on, He has been faithful and gracious, from allowing my family to easily immigrate to New Zealand and providing us with a better quality of life, to keeping me from the temptations of sex, drugs and rock „n roll in my teenage years. Jesus has been my fortress through my lows and highs, and while there have been times when I tried to do things on my own, He has always patiently brought me back. He is a GREAT God!
