Pat S.

I have attended and been part of church all my life. I was guided by fantastic, encouraging, energetic loving parents who led by example. We attended a Barrymore Crusade and it was clear to me I needed to make this choice for myself, and I accepted Christ into my life. Not long after, I was baptised.

Not much changed, as life was church and we seemed to be there at least four times a week. My Dad was involved in leadership at the church and as his children, it was assumed we knew the answers to any question asked. It was head knowledge only.

I knew God had a plan for my life but wasn’t sure what it was, so I lived day by day and followed the example of my parents. Our pastor was really interested in youth. I still remember the sermon series that was SFTL. Special For The Lord. This was when heart knowledge began to grow and life was different and exciting. I saw Pastor Harris a few years ago, and the first thing he said to me was, are you still SFTL?

My Mom was a prayer warrior and I saw firsthand how God answered prayer and directed our family. My Dad was the encourager and he led by example and we were so totally loved. I wanted and needed to be like them.

There were many times when I could feel that God was shaping me. Those times were difficult and I felt very discouraged and hurt, and wondered why I had to experience such pain. It was during those times that God changed my perspective and gave me peace. Psalm 23 says even though I walk through the valley, He is with me, and that brought me peace and comfort. I realized God was moulding me. Tough times bring great strength and it is great now to look back on those times and see how God was in control and allowed these tests to make me a better servant. I am very thankful for the journey He continues to lead me on.

Life continues to be an adventure. I am blessed with my wonderful husband, Bernie, and 4 great sons. We have two treasured daughters that our sons married and 4 fantastic grandchildren.

Every day is a gift, a blessing and an opportunity to share His love everywhere. Each moment of work is a chance to bring joy to all those around us. My journey is walking hand in hand with Christ and leaving the outcome to Him. What a great life we have.

I look forward to what God has for us here at KGF. This verse is true in our family today. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
