My growing up years were great, having been born into a loving, Christian home. Sunday’s were for going to church in the morning and often evenings as well. As a teen, I knew God created all that existed and that He sent His Son to die for our sins. At this point I didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus.   During a youth event, a guest speaker gave the invitation to come forward to receive Christ. The Holy Spirit had been working in my life leading up to this point. That evening, with my heart pounding, I gave my life to Jesus, knowing that I would be lost without Him. On Dec. 31, 1978, I was baptised at Grace Baptist Church. I had Christ in my heart, gut fully surrendering my life was missing.

God has blessed me with so much, a loving wife Sonya, and two awesome kids, Curtis and Jessica. They have all given their lives to Jesus. I grew up singing in choirs, but with my wife leading worship in church, my worship in song has taken on a new dimension.

In 2008 and again in 2009, we went as a family on 2 mission trips to Guatemala. Working together as teams we prepared by praying together and fund-raising for each trip. Trusting God and stepping out in a way that I never had before, truly stretched my faith. My eyes were opened as I witnessed first generation Christians on the other side of the globe, worshipping the same God without all the traditions mixed in. It would take me a while to readjust to our North American culture.

I see God through different eyes, as a God who inclines His ear to listen to my heart’s cry, and who even sings over me. God is showing me a new way to walk with Jesus, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The fellowship of our Growth Groups, and our Guatemala teams, have opened my eyes like never before.

I look forward to these next chapters in my walk with Jesus, and to be part of the plan that He has laid out before me.
