I have always somewhat envied people that had these dramatic conversion stories. Although, I can never remember not knowing there was a God, my real walk with Christ began in a way I would consider rather quiet and undramatic: Simon Fraser University, about 42 years ago, in a library stairwell, having a Campus Crusade guy walk me through a small booklet called the 4 spiritual laws. Do I remember them? No, but I remember the small line drawing of a throne and the question, who is on the throne of your life? It seemed so logical to put Jesus there!

And so, a girl who was poorly brought up catholic, had lost her vibrant mother to alcoholism at 7 and learned to drive by visiting her dad in prison for tax evasion, found herself smack in the middle of God's story. I remember the beginning of a joy, that never has never left me and I also remember failing my only paper in University, in philosophy, on the existence of God. Obviously, my heart was too full of God to make much head sense within in the boundaries set up by Philosophy.

Wayne and I met soon after, and he survived our first date, in which he will love to tell you that I asked him where he stood with Jesus. It turns out he had always felt a sense of God’s calling. And so we journeyed from Ottawa, to Edmonton where our 2 sons were born, to Kelowna, to God dramatically calling Wayne out of his comfortable career in HR Okanagan College, to full time ministry, to Burnaby to Fort St. John and back home to Kelowna to pastor for 20 years.

I have found my joy and sensed God's presence and pleasure on the many mission trips to Mexico to build homes, three adventures in Africa, wonderful times working in Children's ministry, watching our sons grow in God in ministry positions and in many ways do what we only dreamed of in our own ministries, holding our grandchildren and feeling the earth move, loving God’s people in a variety of churches from mainline to the dance of the charismatic, and of course my own powerful consuming love of art that draws me to Him.

My calling? To testify to the wonder and mystery of God and to help others see the world through the eyes of the creator.

At KGF I have been welcomed into a place where I can I follow Jesus as He invites us to let all His children draw near to Him.
