I had moved to Kelowna and away from my family for the first time in my life. I was going to take care of everything myself and was determined to not need anybody’s help. During this time so many things happened to me in a short period of time. My mom was dying from cancer, I didn’t have a job and no income to pay the bills.
I was being brought down and at the same time being loved by Jesus. I began to realize that I was not the one in control and Jesus had brought people into my life that loved him and introduced him to me. At the job I left in Vancouver there was a co-worker who every Monday came to work on fire about Jesus and church and let everyone know about it. Then there was my future wife Mariellen who stood by me and had the patience to watch me fall down and allow Jesus to do his work in me.
I started attending church with her and fell in love with Jesus. It was December 13, 1996 that I found myself on the front stairs of the church asking Jesus into my life. It was the most incredible experience I have ever had. Since that day life has not always been easy, in fact some days were even more difficult. However, Jesus still has a lot of work to do in me. He has shown me that no matter what happens he is by my side and has gotten me through every trial and blessing along the way. I am so thankful for Jesus and that he loves me enough to be by my side and to bless me in so many ways.
I was baptized November 1997 in Kelowna and have been growing in my walk with the Lord every day since.
My favorite verse is Exodus 14:13-14 “But Moses told the people, don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
