I met my future husband Mel when I started high school and the difference between his loving family and mine soon caused me to examine what was the reason. His mother was a wonderful Christian woman and her loving acceptance of me although I was a non-Christian spoke to my heart. I started going to church with Mel and over time he explained the Gospel to me and after several years of resisting God’s call on my life, I gave my heart to Christ, was baptised and changed the whole direction of my life.
We have received so many blessings as a result of our decision to follow Christ’s leading in our lives. Although we both had successful careers, Mel eventually became President of an International mission group and as a result of this we were able to fellowship with Christians of all walks of life around the world and in our home.
We have been part of several churches, both in New Zealand and here in Canada, and so have been fortunate to be involved in many different types of ministry and see God at work.
We have three wonderful daughters and three lovely grandchildren and have over the years experienced the challenges of raising a family, including celebrating all our family occasions when Mel returned from his heavy travel schedule, and the difficulties of maintaining a meaningful Christian witness in this modern world of ours.
Throughout my Christian walk, I have kept in mind Hebrews 12:1b-2a: “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.”
