How would you define “peace”? Beyond definitions, are you experiencing peace? Would those around you say it’s something that you possess? Truth is, the peace that all of us are looking for is only found in one place, as we come face to face with the Prince of Peace.

As Pastor Mike concludes our 4 week look at the names of Jesus from Isaiah 9, we fix our eyes on his title “Prince of Peace”. The good news is this Prince of Peace comes into our world of stormy seas more than calm waters. He breaks into our lives where thunder is booming and lightning is flashing. And he offers us what only He can offer us. A peace which the world can neither understand nor take away. His name is Jesus, and He is the Prince of Peace.

The following few lines of a poem penned by Victor Hugo came to mind as I saw the images on the screen this morning. These have always encouraged me when I realized I can have calm and peace and even a song when I know I am held in God's embrace.

"Let us be like a bird
For a moment perched
On a frail branch while he sings.
Though he feels it bend
Yet he sings his song,
Knowing he has Wings".
