Written by Mike PenningaReasonable Faith - Part 3 - Why People Don't Believe
Written by AdministratorHave you ever asked the question "why don't people believe?" It's an important question, and in part 3 of our series "Reasonable Faith?", we welcome Dr. Paul Chamberlain, leading Canadian Christian apologist to tackle it.
Dr. Chamberlain is a professor at Trinity Western University and ACTS Seminaries. He is the author of six books on the subject, the latest one being released in 2011 and entitled: “Why People Don’t Believe: Confronting Seven Challenges to Christian Faith.”
Paul’s passion is to equip believers to communicate the message of God’s love to their friends and neighbours in a way that is accurate, credible, and relevant to their lives. We know you'll enjoy what he brings!
Reasonable Faith - Part 1 - Leaving Your Mind Behind?
Written by Mike PenningaReasonable Faith. . . are those two words even possible in the same sentence? If you’ve come to believe that faith is a journey for the mindless, then this series is for you! We’re going on an intensive four-week journey to discover the reasons behind faith. Along the way, we want to tackle some of the biggest questions raised about our origins, God, the Bible, and why we’re here.
We begin in this message by painting a picture of what the Bible means when it says to "love God with your heart, soul, mind and strength." Pastor Mike Penninga will unpack the amazing blessings that come when we lean into God with all aspects of our being.

Living Life in Light of Death - State of the Church Address - January 8, 2012
Written by Mike PenningaThe reality of death puts our life in perspective. Those things that are not important seem to fade away in light of our limited time on earth. And that's a gift, because our life here is meant to have an impact on eternity. And there is only one thing that lasts beyond the grave: people.
In this, the 2012 state of the church address, Pastor Mike turns our attention back to the reason for the church, and explores what God might have in store for KGF in this coming year. And we will discover together that we are being blessed for a reason.
What do U2 lead singer Bono and Violin Sensation Josh Bell have to do with Christmas? They both showed up in unusual places and were overlooked by people who didn’t expect to see them. The message of Christmas is a message of drawing near to the one who turned up in the most unexpected way. God come near.
In this message, I used the story of the violin great Josh Bell playing incognito at a Washington DC metro station to illustrate that we can miss greatness if we are too busy to stop and look! You can read the full story "Pearls Before Breakfast" that won author Gene Weingarten a Pulitzer Prize online here:

He Will Be Called - Part 4 - Prince of Peace
Written by Mike PenningaHow would you define “peace”? Beyond definitions, are you experiencing peace? Would those around you say it’s something that you possess? Truth is, the peace that all of us are looking for is only found in one place, as we come face to face with the Prince of Peace.
As Pastor Mike concludes our 4 week look at the names of Jesus from Isaiah 9, we fix our eyes on his title “Prince of Peace”. The good news is this Prince of Peace comes into our world of stormy seas more than calm waters. He breaks into our lives where thunder is booming and lightning is flashing. And he offers us what only He can offer us. A peace which the world can neither understand nor take away. His name is Jesus, and He is the Prince of Peace.
He Will Be Called - Part 3 - Everlasting Father
Written by Mike PenningaYou have an everlasting father. And his name is Jesus. He is God come near.
And he is not going anywhere!
Maybe you had an earthly father who abandoned you.
Jesus never will.
Maybe you had an earthly father who abused you.
Jesus never will.
Maybe you had an earthly father who ignored you.
Jesus never will.
In part 3 of our 4 part Christmas series “He Will Be Called”, Pastor Mike focuses our attention on Jesus as “Everlasting Father”.
Are you in need of a Mighty God? The good news is Christmas announces His arrival! Guest preacher Tim Schroeder continues our walk through the names of Jesus, found in Isaiah 9, focusing this message on the birth of our Mighty God who has come near!
"He Will Be Called" Part 1 - Wonderful Counselor
Written by Mike PenningaThere is power in a name. It means something. When we come to Christmas, the name Mary & Joseph were to give to their son was "Jesus", which means "One who saves!" How awesome that right in the name of our savior is the idea of salvation!
This Christmas, we are going on a journey to look at the names of Jesus, the one who was to come. We turn the clocks back 700 years before his birth to the prophet Isaiah, chapter 9, and look full force into the amazing names he gives; Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We begin by looking at the one who is too great for any name, and how He has come near to bring you home!
