Paul

I feel truly blessed to have been raised in a Christian home where Christ was the centre and focus of our family’s upbringing and activities.

At the age of six, I was attending a Vacation Bible School event in the backyard of one of our neighbours where the lesson was focused on having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I remember vividly, talking to my mom that night to gain a better understanding and then kneeling next to my bed while my Mom led me in the salvation prayer.

Although I faced many questions and challenges during my formative years and early adulthood, I never really have struggled with or fallen away from my relationship with God. In my early teen years, while attending a national conference in New York, I was challenged to start making my relationship with God my own. At that point, I made a recommitment of my life to God and followed that up by being baptised by my father at our church.

Through a variety of answers to prayer, God paved the way for me to attend school at Trinity Western University. Trinity taught me that I could have a huge influence in the lives of those around me by living a Christ filled life and living a life of integrity. Consistently putting my trust in God is not always easy. I am often caught in the trap of ‘trying to do it myself’, but have had so many examples of God’s grace, faithfulness and blessing in my life that I clearly see His love for me.

He does not expect me to be perfect, and I have found great freedom in Ephesians 2:8-9...”For it is by grace you are saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Each year I enjoy more and more the ‘journey’ of learning and growth that comes from walking with Christ and the joy of watching Him work in the lives of those around me!
