When Grace Becomes Truly Amazing

Written by

Have you ever wondered why some people embrace grace as truly amazing and others seem to write it off as nothing special?  It comes down to the gap between what you think you deserve and what you have actually received.  Here's Pastor Mike with a 2 1/2 minute visual presentation that we pray forever changes how you see Grace.  From the message, "The Face of Grace" (full message here)

Three women. Three circumstances that seemed hopeless. Until God showed up through the loving care of His children.

This 10 minute video tells the story of how the Okanagan Valley Pregnancy Care Center is impacting families in powerful, long-reaching ways.

This 2 1/2 minute video is your invitation to our Christmas Eve celebrations taking place at the Kelowna Community Theatre Wednesday December 24th, 4:00pm & 5:30pm.  You are not going to want to miss this opporunity to pause and be reminded of why Christmas really does change everything.  Here's Kelowna Gospel Fellowship Church Senior Pastor Mike Penninga.

More on our website here:

Pastor Mike and Shari Laurie walk through the symbolism and significance of our Christmas Advent visual display, and how God seems to enjoy "working out the details."  How are you preparing your heart for the arrival of Jesus?

Christmas of Compassion Not Consumption

Written by

Our society is trying to convince us Christmas is all about us. The reality is Christmas is the ultimate picture of love in action, and an invitation for us to do the same. What would it look like for us to live a Christmas of Compassion Not Consumption? More here with Pastor Mike.

Next Sunday, December 7th, we are transforming the HUB into an Opportunities EXPO.  We are going to make it easy for you to connect with some fantastic organizations in our city that have tangible ways for you to be part of a Christmas of Compassion Not Consumption.  Here’s who’s on tap for next Sunday in the HUB

  1. Freedom’s Door
  2. Pregnancy Care Center
  3. Compassion Canada
  4. Errol Martens
  5. Kelowna Gospel Mission
  6. Food For Thought
  7. Okanagan Gleaners
  8. Kelowna Food Bank
  9. Soles for Souls
  10. Hands in Service
  11. MCC
Our prayer is that God’s Spirit will provide you with the opportunities and the desire to indeed live a Christmas of Compassion Not Consumption.  So excited to see how God is going to use each of us for His kingdom purposes.

Years ago, a major art gallery sponsored a competition for painters and they were offering prizes for the best painting on the subject of “Peace.” The painting that won was a real surprise.

Here's Pastor Mike with the story, the painting, and the discovery of what real peace actually means.

From Sunday November 23 message, "Afraid No More",

It was so fun to ask some of the kids who packed shoeboxes to be part of the big "reveal", with 517 boxes (and that number is still growing!)  Thanks for your generosity that means more than 500 kids will receive a gift and the clear gospel.  Awesome!

Ministry Update with Pastor Mike - November 17

Written by

Pastor Mike takes four minutes to speak directly to you about a couple of exciting family items, including a short membership meeting this Sunday November 23, 11:15am, an opportunity to take the step of baptism / membership Sunday @ 7pm, and a preview on what Christmas holds.

It was a blessing to have Laurence East from Metro Community Church in Kelowna share at the Third Annual "Living Beyond Ourselves" event at KGF Saturday November 15, 2014.  Laurence is a powerful advocate and voice for those who have no voice, and his ministry is to those the society tends to marginalize.  He shared about extreme poverty in our own backyard, and ways we can make a tangible difference.  Powerful.
