Wayne Laurie

I was born in Fernie B.C. amidst the Rocky Mountains and moved to Kelowna where I have lived at three different times in my life. Feeling the presence of God in my life I have journeyed with the expectation and desire to go where he would lead me. From high mountains, to beautiful valleys, to the high arctic, to Mexico and east and southern Africa I have felt God’s call on my family and myself.

Shari and I met at SFU and began a journey of working as a Human Resource Manager and Shari as a teacher. In 1984 as a response to God’s call, I entered the ministry leading congregations in Fort St. John and Kelowna and then established Mountain Peak Ministries in 2007 to help churches in transition. I have worked with Charismatic, Baptist, Presbyterian, and Mennonite congregations. In addition to leading the Kelowna Evangelical Ministerial Association, I volunteer as an On-Call Chaplain for the Kelowna General Hospital and provide pulpit supply, weddings and funerals in the Kelowna area and Okanagan valley.

I have been a member of Kelowna Gospel Fellowship since 2011, helping out where I can in teaching, preaching, coaching and encouraging others. Feeling the power in the presence of Christ transfiguration as in Matthew 17 I have been to the mountain peak and have been led into the valley to not only live out my faith experience but to help others in their faith journey.

Allowing my name to stand as a Board nominee is a response to the urging of friends in the congregation and knowing that God is doing a great work at KGF where lives are being changed and God’s glory is being seen.
Shari and I have two married sons and four grandchildren and from time to time I love to get away in the mountains to fly fish.
