One girl lives in Canada; the other lives in Ethiopia. Now, the two teens have met face-to-face for the first time, thanks to a wish born of generosity. Edmonton’s Isabel Schuppli, 18, was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, when doctors found a lump on her thyroid.
When Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada heard about Isabel’s illness and determined her eligibility, they approached her to share her ideas for a heartfelt wish. Isabel asked to meet the child her family has sponsored for almost five years through Compassion Canada, Kidist Meskele. Kidist is the same age as Isabel, and the Schuppli family considers her to be an honourary member of their family. Over the years, they have sent letters, photos and birthday gifts to Kidist.
This video follows Isabel and her family as they travel to Hawassa, Ethiopia to meet Kidist face to face for the first time.
