The day was Sunday December 4, 1988. I was 15 years old. I, along with 16 others, were being baptized and becoming members of my home church, Willow Park. Pastor Herb Brandt, a godly man with snow white hair, lowered me into the water and brought me back up again. It was symbolic of dying to the old self, being raised to new life. It was powerful!
I remember that day very clearly because of the significance of the step I was taking. I was putting on the jersey of Jesus. I was going public in my faith. I was walking in obedience with what Jesus had asked of his followers. I have often drawn back to that day in my mind, and used it as a mark in the sand, knowing that I had crossed over to Christ’s team.
We have an opportunity coming up for you to do the same. KGF is having a baptism on Sunday November 25th, with the class being held Sunday October 21st from 7 – 9pm in the Fireside room. Maybe it’s time that you go public with your faith, that you put on the jersey of Jesus, that you walk out in obedience to his call on your life. If you are a believer who has never been baptized, then consider saying yes and joining us this time.
