We are blessed with a fantastic group of men and women on our staff team who love Jesus, His Church, and His people! We encourage you to get to know them, pray for them, and encourage them as together we follow God’s Spirit in this church family.
Mike Penninga is first and foremost a son of God, a husband to Michelle, a father of 3, and a Kelowna boy through-and-through!
A grad of Trinity Western University and ACTS seminary with a background in broadcast journalism, Mike has a passion for sharing the life changing news of Jesus Christ in understandable and captivating ways.
He has been the Senior Pastor at Kelowna Gospel Fellowship since March 2009.
Levi is a father to three wonderful girls and husband to the love of his life, Shelley. While a good chunk of his life has been spent on the prairies, BC is his home and he loves our city of Kelowna! He graduated from Regent College in Vancouver in 2009 and spent 3 years teaching and serving as Academic Dean at Eston College, Saskatchewan before returning home, where he began working here as Associate Pastor in April of 2014.
He has long been seized by God’s grace and the call to serve His church, something that both excites and humbles him at the same time. His passion is to educate the imagination of the Church with respect to who God is, how we experience him, and to understand what good works he has created us and equipped us to do in Christ Jesus by the Holy Spirit (Eph 2.4-10).
Marcus is a follower of Jesus Christ. One sunny day he fell in love with Bethany when she threw a rock near a Blue Heron (that’s the girl for me!). Out of their love and marriage bloomed three boys, Elijah Christopher, Rafael Lorne, and Pascal Frederick. Marcus loves being a father, wrestling with his boys, and teaching them about this beautiful world God has made and is restoring! When he was young he played basketball, but now as an old man he enjoys tennis, God’s creation, reading, and the odd ping pong battle.
Marcus was first called to pastoral ministry during his Bachelors of Ministry at Prairie Bible College (1998-2002). This was only deepened during his three years of youth ministry in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and another four years of Bible training at Regent College in Vancouver, BC (MDiv, 2009). After 5 years of carpentry Jesus called him to raise up the next generation of Christ followers and he is loving the healthy, vibrant, and transformative student community that is developing at KGF!
Sue loves Jesus, loves her wonderful husband Henry and their beautiful amazing large family. Sue and Henry have truly found a place of belonging at KGF. She brings over 25 years of experience in Children Ministries, serving and leading in all areas of children’s and youth ministries. Sue has a passion for sharing the love of Jesus with kids and journeying along side them. Her hearts desire is to see the family as a whole supported in ministry and it brings her great joy to see children grow in the love and knowledge of Jesus.
Jeanne is an Okanagan girl through and through and considers it a privilege to be able to live in this beautiful city that we call home. She was born and raised in Penticton and moved to Kelowna after spending a few years in the Lower Mainland where she met and married her husband, Nolan. Jeanne and Nolan have 2 wonderful adult daughters, Cassidy and Elyse.
In her spare time Jeanne enjoys long walks, hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, reading, baking, spending time with family & friends, wandering through antique stores and sipping tea.
She joined the team at KGF in May 2014 and considers herself blessed to be able to serve this church family and work alongside such an incredibly gifted team as we follow Jesus together.
Galen is excited to support the KGF Church Family as Technical Ministries Director. He is married to Amy and they have a beautiful daughter, Mylah, and a daschund, George! Galen has spent over 20 years working in live theatre production both professionally and as a volunteer. He is passionate about sharing his experience as a technician, seeing his team grow and supporting the teams at KGF.
Caleb is a Manitoban, a musician, a husband, and is bad at writing his own biographies. Since 2014, Caleb has served in the worship and technical ministries at KGF -- providing oversight to KGF‘s musical components and contributing to KGF’s graphic design.
Caleb married his best friend, Lana, in 2016. Lana and Caleb are proud parents of a small cat named ‘Ann Perkins’ and together, would like to travel to every corner of the world.
Devan became a follower of Christ at a Bible camp in the Okanagan when he was thirteen, he then met his amazing wife, Corrie, that same year at camp. Devan loves living in the Okanagan where he enjoys playing volleyball at the beach with his friends. He also enjoys creating crazy youth games, losing to Marcus in ping-pong, playing board games, and hiking the trails of Kelowna.
Devan has been serving in various youth and children’s ministries consistently for the past six years and has a passion for working with the teens in Jr. Youth at KGF. He is very excited to help disciple the youth and to inspire them to know God and seek His kingdom. Devan is currently enrolled in Distance Education working on his Bachelors in Youth Ministry.
Bethany and her husband, Marcus, love what God is doing at KGF church so much that they both work on staff! Born and raised in Kelowna, Bethany could be found on the soccer pitch or on the volleyball court, but now most of her extra time is spent raising their three beautiful boys in the ways of the world — Elijah, Rafael, and Pascal. She came to faith at an early age and fervently started following Jesus at Columbia Bible College as a young adult, where she studied outdoor education and counselling. She has since enjoyed shepherding young people in their faith and finding creative ways to make the Gospel come alive, through various leadership positions, experience in overseas Missions, and working in Children’s ministry at KGF. Her current position in the Adult Ministries world is right up her alley, and she loves what she gets to do.
Colleen has called KGF her home from get go and has enjoyed being involved in various ministries. Her role on the Kid’s Ministry team with Sue and Amy is one she is having a lot of fun in.
Colleen is married to Derek and has two children, Sarah and Jacob as well as one dog, one cat, one goat, and many chickens. Colleen and her family enjoy spending time in the outdoors.
I love being on staff at KGF- helping to support the work of loving others for Jesus. I am Pearl - a Christ follower. He has been my rock and fortress through many stormy changes over the years, and I stand on the knowledge of His faithfulness. I love to be out on the motorcycle in the summer, travelling. I am also a big reader, and love to learn. Ernie and I have made KGF our church home for about 10 years. We have a busy life with 4 children and spouses, and 7 grandchildren. I look forward to being your contact and connection in the front office, and hope you stop by any time.
Amy and her family have been attending KGF since 2010, and are so happy to call it home. Amy is very happily married to her wonderful husband Galen and together have a beautiful daughter Mylah and a daschund, George. In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends, reading and crafting of any kind. She also has a small sewing/crafting business that keeps her quite busy! Amy is so thrilled to work alongside Sue and Colleen and be a part of the Kids Min world!
I was born and raised in Fort St John in a loving Christian/Mennonite family. Growing up, I could always be found outside on a quad or with our animals. Attending a Bible Camp every summer instilled in me a desire to be part of a ministry in some way although I was unsure as to what that was going to look like.
After living in Australia for 6 months, I moved to Kelowna in April 2016 and constantly ask myself why it took me so long to move to this beautiful valley! Every weekend is filled with a new adventure, whether it is hiking, camping, hunting or soccer! I look forward to my newest adventure at KGF Church serving and growing in my faith amongst a community that has made me feel at home since the moment I walked through the doors.
Bernice is passionate about her God,her family, music and numbers! She was born and raised in Kelowna and has 3 amazing children. Skiing, camping and road trips are among the many things they enjoy doing together.
She has been involved in serving the local church, particularly in the area of worship and more recently in the way of bookkeeping. She has numerous businesses that she provides bookkeeping services for and is honored to come alongside the team at KGF in the capacity of bookkeeper. She has a heart to see the local church thrive, see families build close knit community and in turn be empowered and inspired to reach our city with the love of Christ.
Curtis made the move to the Okanagan in 2011 when he was offered a job as a videojournalist for a major television network.
