“I Will Build My Church” Part 5 – A Church that Lives on Mission

What happens when a church forgets why it exists? What does it look like to have “mission-drift”, to move away from the whole purpose in the first place? In the 5th and final part of our series, “I Will Build My Church”, Pastor Mike Penninga brings us back to the fact Jesus calls us to a mission that is bigger than ourselves, that is beyond the walls of any building, and can impact eternity.

“I Will Build My Church” Part 4 – A Church that Loves

Sometimes we can make a very simple call seem very very imposing and complicated.  God has called us to look like him in the world and Jesus gave us the command to love one another.  Pastor Levi takes a look at the great commandment through the very simple lenses of friendship and hospitality, reminding us all that answering our call as the church can be just as simple as meeting someone new and inviting them out for a drink!  Join Pastor Levi Simpson for week 4 of our sermon series “I Will Build My Church: A Church that Loves”

“I Will Build My Church” Part 3 – A Church that Serves

What would happen if you chose the Towel instead of the Bib? What would life look like if you walked every day with a “Service” mindset instead of a “Serve-Us” focus? Here’s Pastor Mike Penninga with Part 3 of our series, I Will Build My Church, and a message on a church that serves.

We are beginning 2018 with a phrase that we feel summarizes God’s heart for this church family: “KGF exists to find creative ways to live in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40 – Love God & Love Others) and walk out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20 – Make Disciples who Make Disciples).” We have created four short surveys which will be released weekly, inviting your honest & thoughtful reflection to help us “listen forward into this new chapter at KGF.

Our second question digs into the second part of the Great Commandment. As part of the Great Commandment, Jesus invites us to “love our neighbours as ourselves.” We’re going to start this survey by exploring who we’re currently connected with, and how we support each other in our existing networks.

  1. Who is supporting you this year? (No need to provide names, just roles.)
  2. What does it feel like to be well-supported?
  3. Who are YOU supporting, and in what ways?
  4. What helps you be a better supporter of others?

Please click here to complete this survey (anonymously) online so we can compile results as part of our series, “I Will Build My Church”

We’ll have a new short survey each week, in addition to the chance for some interviewing and storytelling around these topics together as a church family. Please join us for one of two Listening Forward nights, facilitated by Kevan Gilbert, Wednesday January 24th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm in the HUB, or Sunday January 28th, 6:3pm – 8:30pm in the HUB.

“I Will Build My Church” Part 2 – A Church that Listens

Do we actually believe that God really does speak to us?
And if He does, how can we know His voice and not something else?

Our word for 2018 is “Listen”. It’s such a powerful word, and we want to take time today to what it would look like for KGF to be known as a church that Listens to the voice of God. You may wonder how God actually speaks, what that looks like, and how we can know it is His voice. Jesus said his sheep know His voice, and follow Him. We want to know & follow the voice that leads us along God’s path and into His purposes.

Vision 2018 “I Will Build My Church” Part 1

Welcome to our Vision 2018 message, and the beginning of our new five part series “I Will Build My Church.” These are the words of Jesus in Matthew 16:18, and a powerful foundation for us as we begin this new year as a church family.

It’s important to be reminded that this is God’s work. KGF is His church. We are the bride of Jesus. And He will build His church! The fact that we get to be part of what He’s building is unbelievable. We are going to spend the next five weeks diving deep into the reasons we exist as a church, where we’re going, what’s at stake, and why it really matters for eternity.
