Failure and Forgiveness

Philemon 1:17-20

When was the last time you were offended? Do you recall who it was and what they said or did? If you’re anything like me, those things are easy to remember. When we get upset about a statement or action, it tends to stick with us…and we tend to tell others about it too: “Can you believe he said THAT?!”

In those moments, it’s easy to forget that you and I have also done and said things that caused hurt to someone else. That’s right—it’s not just a THEM problem; it’s a ME problem too.

We will encounter failure on a regular basis. We will also find it hard to forgive that failure. How useful is our faith when pain and offence enter the picture?
