Our 55plus group met for our first event of 2026. Our theme was new beginnings. Ruth read a beautiful poem as a tribute to her husband and we were reminded of those among us who are with the Lord. We enjoyed homemade soups and cheese melt buns as we watched our PowerPoint of last year together. As always Dianne and Nick brought a fun game for us. Sandy and Nancy shared possibilities for new beginnings: book clubs, devotionals and Bible reading guides. Phil told us of people from around the world who are making a difference as they have embraced new realities and new beginnings in their lives. Phil asked us to reflect on a powerful question "If everyone was like you would Kelowna and Canada be healed?" Phil prayed for us and Nancy told us of our next meeting on Feb 17th. The fellowship around the tables and time together is something we look forward to every month.
“God did not create you to produce only one good thing. He created you to be a living, growing person, forever capable of bearing new fruit. When one opportunity passes, when a dream changes, when a season ends, it does not mean you have failed or missed your purpose. It simply means another fig is forming.
We grieve the figs we lose, and that grief is really. But the roots are still alive. The trunk still stands. The Spirit within you is still working, still nourishing, still creating new growth. What once fed others does not exhaust what God can still do through you.
God is not limited to a single outcome for your life. He is a God of renewal, not scarcity. You are not defined by what you didn’t choose, what fell apart, or what no longer bears fruit. You are defined by the One who planted you, tends you, and causes you to grow. As you are rooted in Him, there will always be more fruit to come.”
