Make disciples…of all people…in all places!
Do you ever wonder, "will anyone listen to the message?" Maybe because you think they have it all and don't need God, or it's too exclusive, or the message is unlikely to take root in this person or that place because of spiritual darkness, competing beliefs, or devotion to other gods. I don't think you're alone. Interestingly, Jesus took His disciples on a road trip to a centre of pagan worship and spiritual oppression, and right there He asked them, “Who do you say I am?” Their response would speak volumes...as ours as well. For at the heart of being a Good News People is our confession that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. And that confession shapes our mission: to make disciples in all places, even places where darkness seems to reign, even at the gates of Hades—and among all people, even those who serve and worship other gods. So it's probably normal to ask "will anyone listen to the message" but Jesus' response should encourage and challenge His followers to press on! Jesus is building His church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it!
